This planting site at Stocks Reservoir opened in May 2004 and is situated close to the small historic village of Slaidburn which is approximately 18 miles north of the lovely town of Clitheroe.

Stocks Reservoir is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and for the ever-increasing and varied species of flora and wildlife. The planting site is adjacent to the south side of the reservoir and overlooks the water's edge which is popular with fishermen from all over the UK. A strcitly private road runs off Catlow Road past the Water Treatment Works and up to the wonderfully preserved building referred to as the Boardhouse Residence. Whilst the Treatment Works and the Boardhouse Residence are strictly out-of-bounds to all visitors, special arrangements have been made for Life for a Life clients to view the Book of Remembrance in a designated area.

The whole area is steeped in military history dating back to the Romans. Catlow Road actually runs parallel to a Roman Road.

The whole area is very popular with fell walkers and hikers as well as landscape artists and photographers.

Life for a Life planting areas are natural environments where we encourage wildlife and plantlife to flourish, as such additional items should not be added to the tree or the space around it, especially as they can cause damage to the tree. Please be aware that any prohibited items left on or around memorial trees will be removed. 

Please be aware that the memorial forest car park can be accessed between the following times. 

7am to 8pm (April – September)

8am to 6pm in winter (October to March)
