🌳 Exciting Community Update! Today, in partnership with @salford_council we held a community meet-up at Oakwood Park to share our plans for a new memorial forest. We outlined how we’ll be working on woodland improvements in three areas of the park and creating a wildflower meadow. This project will offer a peaceful space to remember loved ones, enhance the park’s natural beauty, and provide lasting benefits for the community. A big thank you to everyone who came out to hear about the plans and share your thoughts. We’d also like to thank Jess, Greenspace Project Officer for Salford Council, and the @salfordrangerteam for their invaluable support in getting this project underway. As this #NationalGriefAwarenessWeek comes to a close, we reflect on the past 25 years with immense gratitude and purpose. Honoured to join Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Asrar Ul-Haq and the Mayor of Rochdale, Cllr Shakil Ahmed, at the Remembrance Service at Oulder Hill Leadership Academy this morning. We gathered to pay tribute to the Rochdale soldiers and civilians who sacrificed their lives during the Second World War. Last week, we were delighted to welcome Yeovil Community Rivers Trust to our Sutton Bingham Memorial Forest. They hosted a scything session with learners from @able2achieve Active Lives Project, helping to prepare areas of grassland for wildflower sowing. As we near the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week, we’d like to take a moment to highlight a wonderful organisation we supported last year - @memorymilkgift . Jack’s been busy at our @laudatosicentre wardley memorial forest, cutting the hedges now that autumn has arrive. Did you know that over the last 25 years we have planted over 2 miles of hedgerows across our memorial forests and we still maintain them today! This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of @wessexwater_ ecology, biodiversity, and wetlands team to our Durleigh Meadows memorial forest. They conducted a wildlife survey along the watercourse that runs through the site, and it was fascinating to watch them at work. They found evidence of bank voles, field voles, and caddisfly larvae, key indicators of a clean and healthy ecosystem. The vegetation at the northern edge of the site has developed into a fen, and the water flowing from the site into Durleigh Reservoir is noticeably clearer than when it enters, thanks to the vegetation acting as a natural filter. Remembrance, nature and community were all celebrated last Sunday as we supported the 3 annual Sholver Millennium Green day.
