Description

This beautiful Memorial Forest site sits within the newly created Countess of Chester Country Park and was opened by His Grace The Duke of Westminster KG CB CVO OBE TD CD DL on July 7th. 2015. The aim of the memorial woodland is to help enhance the biodiversity of the site so that eventually it will become a popular woodland walk surrounded by pastoral meadows.

The site will accommodate approximately 700 memorial trees, and will be a mix of English oak Quercus Robur, Silver Birch Betula Pendula, Mountain Ash Sorbus aucuparia and Wild Cherry Prunus avium.

The County Park has a convenient car park off Countess Way, from which tarmac pathways give easy access to the whole park making it ideal for walking, running or providing access to the nearby canal footpath. The County Park has also been design by the Land Trust to be wheelchair friend and easy on those with impaired mobility.

The grass will be cut on a differential regime so that a balance can be struck between providing access to memorial trees and the need to protect vital wildlife habitats. There will be an opportunity for those wishing to plant wildflowers to do so. This will be organised and governed by the TCV (The Conservation Volunteers), for more information please contact the TCV directly on the details below.

Please be aware that any prohibited items left around memorial trees will be removed.
